I’m hosting an interview today for the book tour for paranormal fantasy “The Red Collection”. My questions are bolded, the author’s responses are in regular font.
What’s the hardest part of being an author?
Writing, of course. Some days it flows so fast you can barely catch it all on the page and other days it trickles. I try to stay on a schedule and that helps me tremendously.
Can you give us a short synopsis of The Red Collection? What inspired you to write this book?
The Red Collection is a three part story about a demon bounty hunter, Red, who discovers she is being framed for the murder of her estranged family. It’s a retelling of the story of LIttle Red Riding Hood. I find fairytales fascinating because they are the first stories of human nature and societal expectations we learn as children. It’s interesting how those stories stay with us as we grow older.
How many hours per day do you spend writing?
I probably spend about five hours a day writing. And I try to write every single day, including holidays. I feel like it’s one of those things that you just have to do if you want to get better. And there’s always room to get better.
Name your top five favorite books.
That’s like asking me to name my five favorite cupcake flavors–it really depends on my mood. But I will say I’ve always been a big fan of Aerin McKinley’s books and that The Hero and The Crown is probably the only book in the world I could read over and over again.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on Super, a novel about a nontraditional superhero who may save the day but can’t save herself. And I’ll also have a followup to Red’s story coming soon.
About The Red Collection
Author: Princess Jones
Genre: Paranormal Fantasy
Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?
For Red, it’s just another day on the job. Even a fearless bounty hunter can find herself in trouble on the road. But with the help of her longtime hunting partner, Will, and her trusty crossbow, there’s nothing she can’t handle. Demon bounty job? Check. Juggle a complicated fuck buddy relationship with your best friend and partner? Check. Take on anything foolish enough to take on her? Double check.
They say you can’t go home again but Red doesn’t have a choice. Her estranged family has been brutally murdered and she’s the only suspect. Unwilling to spend her life on the run for a crime she didn’t commit, Red returns to her hometown to clear her name. And when Red’s long lost grandmother reappears, things really start to get complicated. With Grandma’s help, Red is on a mission to pay back whoever is behind it all. Now that Red knows the family secret, can she solve the family murder?
This fantasy omnibus contains three interrelated stories re-imagining of the classic fairy tales, taking readers to a place the Grimm brothers never dared. Sexy, gritty, and imaginative, this is the first in a series of fantasy adventure novels that will change the way you see Little Red Riding Hood forever.
