I’m hosting an interview today for the book tour for M/M contemporary romance “Naked Truth”. My questions are bolded, author’s responses are in regular font.
What’s the hardest part of being an author?
Great question! I think there are a few things authors find difficult whether finding the time to write, slogging through edits, or getting out of their writing cave to meet readers. For me the hardest part is marketing. The process itself isn’t that tough. It’s just incredibly time consuming. You can take breaks from writing but you can’t take a break from marketing. It’s a daily process whether you’re in the mood or not.
Can you give us a short synopsis of Naked Truth? What inspired you to write this book?
Absolutely! Naked Truth is book three of the Saving Liam series. It follows Liam and Justin as they confront the biggest part of Liam’s past. I won’t spoil it for you guys but a few things become clearer and karma finally catches up to the man responsible.
So far, it’s my favorite book of the series. You get to see Liam taking control of his life. I also introduce a few new characters, which was a lot of fun.
The series was my chance to bring a silent epidemic to the attention of the readers. Homeless kids have been my passion for at least 20 years. This was my chance to illustrate something few people recognize as a recurring tragedy. Thousands of kids live on the street in the US, invisible to nearly everyone. Thousands more are in Canada, England, France, Ireland, etc. That’s millions of kids in the wealthiest countries on earth living on the street because home isn’t a safe place for them. They either ran away to escape abuse or are thrown out by parents who don’t understand what it means to be parents. In the US, 40% of those kids were abandoned because they are LGBTQIA. In Canada, it’s 30%. All because of something they can’t control and can’t change.
The Saving Liam series tells the story of one of those kids and shows the reality of what happens when you force a teenager to fend for themselves with no means of support, no resources, no family.
How many hours per day do you spend writing?
At least three. That’s my bare minimum.
Name your top five favorite books.
That is a tough question. My favorites change a lot! There are so many incredible authors out there telling so many great stories. It’s hard to choose. I do have a few favorite series, though. I love the Harry Potter books. JK Rowling has such an incredible talent for painting a scene. You feel like you’re really in the cupboard under the stairs. I’m addicted to the Cal and Niko Series by Rob Thurman. It’s one of the few I’ve actually read more than once. The Sandman Slim Series is another. I love that character. He’s one of those great flawed protagonists that you like even when he’s being a jerk. The Gabriel Allon Series by Daniel Silva is definitely on the list, too. I can’t imagine the hours of research that went into putting that together. I’m in awe of every book.
What are you working on now?
My current project is book four of the Saving Liam Series with a few other projects gathering speed in the back of my head.

With the help of Justin and a new friend, Liam must face the life he’s buried.
Book 3 of the Saving Liam series.

Her stories are real and intense but always resolve in the type of ending that makes readers want to start the book all over again. She is from the Pacific Northwest and bases all of her stories in Vancouver, British Columbia, a city that is dear to her heart.
