Author Interview Divine Scales Tour

divinescalesbanner

I’m interviewing Jennifer Blackstream, author of fantasy romance “Divine Scales”. My questions are bolded, the author’s responses are in regular font.

What’s the hardest part of being an author?

Writing even when you don’t feel like it. Writing is a lot like exercising sometimes. You need a routine, otherwise days can go by with no progress.

Can you give us a short synopsis of Divine Scales?

It’s a retelling of the Little Mermaid, so the storyline is pretty well known. I changed a few things to give it my own spin. Marcela’s lost some of her voice, but not all of it, it hurts her to walk, but it’s because she’s never worn shoes, not because of magic, and she is more responsible than her original counterpart. Also, her sudden infatuation with Patricio is due to a curse laid on the angel prince by a witch, not just love at first sight.

How many hours per day do you spend writing?

I don’t really time myself. My daily writing goal is 2k (2,000 words). Sometimes that takes an hour, sometimes it takes four!

Name your top five favorite books.

Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton

Dresden series by Jim Butcher

Discworld series by Terry Pratchett

Aisling Grey series by Katie MacAlister

Merry Gentry series by Laurell K. Hamilton

What are you working on now?

I’m working on Book One in my new series (a spin-off from the Blood Prince series tentatively entitled Lords and Ladies). Working title is All for a Rose and it’s a retelling of Beauty and the Beast.

About Divine Scales

DivineScales 500x750Title: Divine Scales

Author: Jennifer Blackstream

Genre: Fantasy Romance

A warrior with a hunger for sin . . .

Driven by a terrible hunger for the black souls of evil men, Patricio, divine executioner of the gods, patrols the kingdom with blood on his hands and ice in his heart. The families of his victims sing his praises–the result of a witch’s cruel curse that condemns him to be forever surrounded by false adulation. When the curse sours the first hint at romance Patricio has had since becoming the king’s heir, his rage is all consuming. Disgusted, he leaves the mermaid in the sea and returns to the palace…only to be shocked when she bargains for the legs to follow him.

A mermaid out of her element . . .

Marcela’s world has been turned upside-down–literally. Once a proud member of her father King Triton’s royal guard, she’s now the victim of an angel’s curse. Enchanted into false adoration bordering on obsession, she traded her tail–and her voice–to the sea witch for the legs she needed to pursue the object of her desire. In a cruel twist of fate, the very magic that gave her the means to pursue her passion also broke the spell that caused it. Now she’s in the angel’s arms, but how can either of them trust the desire churning inside them when so much magic has muddied the waters?

Trust isn’t easy when nothing is as it seems . . .

A mermaid with legs and no singing voice. An angel with a curse. A witch with a chip on her shoulder. The world is full of magic and mayhem, and for an angel and a mermaid, it will take more than a kiss to balance…the Divine Scales.

Author Interview A Bridge Through Time

bridgetimebanner

I’m interviewing Jennae Vale today, author of time travel romance “A Bridge Through Time”. My questions are bolded, Jennae’s responses are in regular font.

What’s the hardest part of being an author?

For me, the hardest part of being an author is putting my book out there for others to read and worrying that it’s not good enough, or that no one will like it.  Self doubt really.

Can you give us a short synopsis of A Bridge Through Time?

Ashley Moore’s life in San Francisco has hit a few snags, not the least of which involves sightings of a mystery man around every corner.  Is she losing her mind or does he really exist?   Her search for this grey-eyed stranger leads her to  Scotland. There she meets a witch with a secret, a vindictive English knight who is bent on revenge, and she crosses a fog shrouded bridge into the arms of a 16th century Highlander.

What inspired you to write this book?
I love books about time travel.  I love books about Scotland.  And I especially love books about Highlanders in kilts.  Put all that together and that was my inspiration.  I thought that if I had the ability to go back in time, wouldn’t I choose the Scottish Highlands and my favorite time period, the Middle Ages.  That was all it took.

How many hours per day do you spend writing?

It really depends.  I usually go for a walk in the morning and let my characters talk to me.  I then go home and write.  Some days it might be just a few hours, followed by lots of research and other days I’ll spend the whole day writing.

Name your top five favourite books.

Let’s see.  There are so many that I love and I’m sure I’ll leave some out.
1.  The Once and Future King by T.H. White  –  I love any books that have to do with the Arthurian legend and I think I’ve read most of them, but this was my first and it started my obsession.  That includes all of Mary Stewart’s books on the subject – The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills, etc.
2.  A Child’s Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson – My big brother gave me a copy of this book when I was very young.  I loved it so much that the cover eventually fell off.  I recently bought myself a new copy.
3.  Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.  I loved all of the Charles Dickens books I’ve read, but this one was my favorite.
4.  The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley.  Her books are amazing.  I’ve read them all.
5.  Sand In The Wind by Kathleen O’Neal Gear.  There was something about this book that just spoke with me.  I read it many years ago, but I still have my copy and I’m sure I’ll read it again soon.

Author Interview Winter Wolf Release

winterwolfbanner

Today is the release for WINTER WOLF, a paranormal/urban fantasy by author R.J. Blain. The cover looks amazing, and the author gave me some of the most thorough interview responses ever, so I’m thrilled! My questions are bolded, author’s responses are in regular font.

What’s the hardest part of being an author?

This is such a hard question, because all of it is challenging. When writing the draft, I want to tell a good story. When I edit, I want to turn the good story (hopefully good story…) into a great one. I want to make my characters interesting, enjoyable, and touch readers. I want people to walk away with something—even if it is amusement over some of their antics.

But a lot needs to be done to accomplish that. Winter Wolf is 124,000 words long. That is, for the curious, 686 thousand characters. It’s a staggering amount of work checking over every single one of those characters for mistakes. My advance reviewer copies had seven mistakes caught after they went out. (I might have wept and kicked my feet.)

There are more buried in those words, ones I may never catch. It is painful, spending hundreds of hours over months working on a novel for there to be errors—despite the amount of time I spend ruthlessly hunting them down.

It’s true what they say about authors being too close to their work. I often do not see many errors because I know what the words are supposed to be, not what they are. That’s why I have so many editors.

But they miss things too. Ultimately, it is my responsibility to find every mistake and fix it. It’s a pretty notable burden… but one I want to carry. I want every book I write to be better than the last one. Not everyone will like my books or my style. That’s impossible. But I want those who do like it to have something they truly enjoy, free of errors. (I chase impossible dreams.)

Can you give us a short synopsis of Winter Wolf?

I get asked this question a lot, and I keep trying to find a new, interesting way to answer it—that isn’t just copy pasting from the back of the book. It’s a bit of a game with me.In the case of Winter Wolf, I can get away with this game because it’s such a diverse novel. I like twisty, knotted intrigues and action-packed thrillers. I like stories that make readers think. I like dragging readers along for the roller coaster ride. Winter Wolf isn’t as… challenging of a novel as I normally write.

Winter Wolf is the story of a woman who is forced to turn her cowardice into courage, to turn her prejudices into supporting alliances, and heal the pain of abandonment into strong familial ties, no matter what the cost to her.

It is the story of a woman who is forced to set aside everything she values, risking it all for the chance of saving the family she had abandoned years ago.

It is the story of a wizard who must use all of her powers to try to save a race on the brink of extinction due to a plague without a cure—and live despite the fact there are those who would kill her for simply existing.

What inspired you to write this book?

Where do I begin with this? There are so many factors in what made me want to write this book. I am really interest in infectious illnesses. (I know, it’s a weird, morbid thing to be interested in…)

I love turning the mundane into the magical. I enjoy thrillers. I enjoy reading about characters like Nicole, people who are forced to find their limits and boundaries for the sake of others.

Nicole was so hard for me to write because she’s so very different from me—and I’m glad. Writing her forced me to look at the world a different way, and I really came away with a lot from the experience… even when there were times I felt hopeless about whether or not I could actually write the book. I had to lean on my editors a lot for her characterization. I also had to talk to a lot of people who share traits with her, to learn and understand what type of person she really was.

I still don’t know if I did her justice.

There are so many ‘what if’ questions I pursued in this book I’m not even sure I could pick out which one was the most important and relevant.

I came away regretting that Nicole, while an important player in the Witch & Wolf world, isn’t going to be the star of the next novel. That story belongs to someone else. That’s one thing that is hard for me about the Witch & Wolf stories—most books are from a new character’s point of view, although the other characters join forces as the story progresses.

Blood Diamond features many of the major players from both Inquisitor and Winter Wolf. I’m really excited to start working on it sometime in 2015. (I’m crossing my fingers I can have it ready for publication by November of 2015.)

My traitorous fingers doubt me, though, as they’re determined to have the release date be 2105.

How many hours per day do you spend writing?

14+ hours, 5 or 6 days a week. I will take a few days off here and there to make up for the crazy schedule. Sometimes, I will take a week or two off at one time when I need a break. Writing is hard work, and once I get involved with a novel, I don’t like stopping. I like being in the flow of a book, so days off break that flow. Sometimes I end up not taking a single day off for an entire month or two, especially if I am near deadline time.

The end result is often a short temper and tears. My friends are often very gracious, especially near the time for a new release.

Which reminds me, I need to buy them all a cake. (Because I can’t bake.)

Name your top five favourite books.

Elantris by Brandon Sanderson

Fool’s Assassin by Robin Hobb (I shamelessly confess to crying multiple times during this book.)

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle

This is where I stopped and had a complete and total brain malfunction. Because it amuses me, I am going to write the first thing that popped into my head.

“A book about those people who did that thing.” (The book is actually called “Resenting the Hero” and the author is… Moore. Something Moore. And I can’t remember the author’s first name. I’m so sorry. But it’s a really funny, witty, exciting book!)

I’m cheating with this, and listing two complete series. I also confess math is hard… 1, 2, 3, 5… something like that.

The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher

The Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs

Now, as for why I love these books? The characters intrigue me—especially in the case of Fool’s Assassin. They make me laugh or cry with the characters. Most laugh, though. I’m not much of a weeper… except in the case of Fool’s Assassin.

They make me care for these characters. What else can I love more? Not much. I lovingly recommend these titles and series to fantasy lovers.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently working on my Requiem for the Rift King series; it is my epic fantasy series, featuring the story of Kalen, the Rift King. It is also the story of Breton, Kalen’s Guardian and adopted father. The series is the story of kingdoms at war, and a threat that can—and will—destroy them all if they can’t put their petty fighting aside. The skreed don’t care for the world of men, and in their hunger and desire to simply return home, they’ll do anything—even the genocide of an entire race.

Storm Surge, the second volume, will hopefully be released sometime in early 2015. I’m also hoping to finish The Tides of War, book three of the series, sometime in late 2015 or 2016.

There are so many novels I want to write and simply not enough time to write them all!!

The Hunted Wizard

When Nicole dabbled in the occult, she lost it all: Her voice, her family, and her name. Now on the run from the Inquisition, she must prove to herself—and the world—that not all wizards are too dangerous to let live.

The savage murder of a bookstore employee throws Nicole into the middle of Inquisition business, like it or not. Driven by her inability to save the young man’s life, she decides to hunt the killer on her own. Using forbidden magic to investigate the past, she learns that the murderer is in fact a disease that could kill the entire werewolf race.

Forced to choose between saving lives and preserving her own, Nicole embraces the magic that sent her into exile. Without werewolves, the power of the Inquisition would dwindle, and she could live without being hunted.

Nicole’s only hope for success lies in the hands of the werewolves she hates and the Inquisition she fears, but finding someone to trust is only the beginning of her problems. There are those who want to ensure that the werewolves go extinct and that the Inquisition falls.

But, if she fails to find a cure, her family—including her twin sister—will perish…

Author Interview First Experience & Weekend Experience

bannerfirstandweekend

What’s the hardest part of being an author?

It’s challenging to come up with a good story idea, but that doesn’t need to be done very often. And, I enjoy the writing, and find it relatively simple. Even the formatting and publishing – although a pain – is not difficult, and only takes a short time. It’s the marketing that I find to be the most difficult part, at this stage. I’m just learning about social networking, and haven’t started out with a huge fan base, or mailing list. It’s difficult to get your book noticed, when there are tens of thousands of other books in your genre (more than 200,000 in erotica). Marketing is currently taking about half my time, and I feel guilty that I’m not spending even more time on it.

Can you give us a short synopsis of “First Experience” and “Weekend Experience”? What inspired you to write these books?

The Experiences series is the story of Sam (50) and Kelly (25), who are both seeking sexual adventure in their lives. The story is initially narrated by Sam (Books 1, 2), and then both Sam’s and Kelly’s perspectives are provided (Books 3, 4, 5,6). In later books, the perspective shifts to mostly Kelly’s, as she becomes the dominant one in the relationship.

Sam’s background, provided in the prequel, “Origins of a Fetish” (Book 1), is that of a happily-married professional, about to retire. He’s developed fantasies based on childhood experiences that have evolved into specific fetishes – mainly submission, spanking, and medical sex. When he loses his wife, he has some friendly, non-sexual adventures with neighbors, but by the end of book 1 Sam realizes he needs a younger woman to ‘play’ with. One who is strong, intelligent, and self-confident.

In First Experience, Sam meets Kelly, a graduate student – the daughter of old friends, who sees not only sexual adventure with Sam, but gains a sense of his values, including trust and openness. Sam takes Kelly through an intensive day of submission training, and finds that Kelly is definitely intelligent and self-confident. In fact, when Sam hits one of Kelly’s buttons, he allows her to punish him … and they find out that Kelly gets turned on by being the ‘top’ more than by being the ‘bottom’. While nearly the entire book is ‘non-sexual’, based on Sam’s definition of ‘transfer of body fluids’, it is incredibly sensual, and Sam and Kelly find an unexpected bond.

In Weekend Experience, Sam and Kelly spend a long weekend together, exploring new fantasies and fetishes. Some are ‘edge’ play, and the characters don’t like everything they try. They have a romantic first-lovemaking experience. Two of Kelly’s friends visit, one for a special ‘birthday spanking’, and they demonstrate much more enthusiasm and openness for Sam and Kelly’s fetishes than expected. Kelly has her first Brazilian waxing experience. When Sam and Kelly are skinny-dipping in a local pond, they meet two interesting women, Alex and Fiona.

The next book, Birthday Experience begins with Kelly and Fiona modeling in a special photo session for Sam, and Fiona educating Kelly and Sam about piercings. The rest of the book chronicles Kelly’s birthday party, which includes Sam and three of Kelly’s closest friends. Sam has many things planned, including some exotic party favors, and some special ‘games’ that introduce the girls to some of Sam’s interests. A slumber party caps off Kelly’s birthday experience, and Kelly pursues her growing interest in being close to one of her female friends, while Sam ‘satisfies’ the other birthday guests.

I am currently writing European Experience, where Sam takes Kelly on a European tour, meeting friends, and showing Kelly some of the local ‘culture’, including mixed saunas, and sex clubs. The next book, Friends’ Experience, will chronicle the training of Kelly’s friends by Sam. And, after that, in Island Experience, Sam takes the girls to Kauai, where they participate in a varying ménage of sexual activity. There are several more books planned after these.

How many hours per day do you spend writing?

If it’s a ‘writing day’, I put in at least 6 hours, and sometimes as much as 18 hours (!). I get on a roll, and can put in 5-6 days of 12-16 hours in a row. But I also have breaks of several days when I need to focus on marketing and admin duties. At my best, I can write about 10,000 words per day of focused work; but on average, I might write half that … so a 100,000-word novel takes about 3 weeks to draft, with another week for editing, formatting, and publishing on the various platforms. The story flows from my head, as envisioning a movie; but along the way I need to do a substantial amount of research. Does that count as ‘writing’?

Name your top five favorite books.

(please remove this question)

What are you working on now?

I’m working on the Experiences series, which I anticipate will include 10 books, totaling nearly 1,000,000 words! It will be an epic love story between Sam and Kelly. I’m currently completing Book 5: European Experience, and will be starting Book 6: Friends’ Experience soon. I’m targeting the writing and release of one full-length novel per month.

About The Books

First Experience

Cover First SMALL 140821Beyond 50 Shades … Way Beyond!

FIRST EXPERIENCE is an intimate exploration of kinks and fetishes by an unlikely couple, with thoughtful and philosophical discussion by the characters, and graphic descriptions of their erotic adventures.

Sam meets Kelly, a beautiful but troubled woman half his age, leading to a ‘first experience’ exploring the surreal world their fantasies.  Sam realizes that he desires more than a play partner.  And Kelly knows that she needs more than a lover:  Someone to whom she can expose her inner soul; someone whose values transcend the ordinary; someone who will fulfill her own dark fantasy world.

The Experiences series is an epic love story of erotic relationships and sexual desires. Written in a ‘literary realism’ style, the series introduces Sam in the prequel, and the blossoming of his intimate relationship with Kelly as the series progresses. Fantasies and real-world adventures coalesce to mold a unique bond between unlikely lovers. Where needs are mutually satisfied in an open, creative and trusting environment. Where physical and mental boundaries are pushed. Where the concepts of love and sex are never confused, but sometimes confusing. Where openness is required and intimacy is expected. And where fair-is-fair, regarding the punishment of transgressions.

Contemporary erotic romance: Suitable for mature readers, aged 18+ years.

Experiences:  Book 2 is 111,000 word, 17 chapters, 374 print pages

Acclaim from reviewers:

“Erotic, sexy, imaginative, and descriptive”

“The dialog in this book is top notch”

“Origins of a Fetish is well written, fast paced, and a true page turner”

“After reading Origins of a Fetish, I truly wanted more”

“An extremely sexy novel that is filled with substance”

“Will leave you questioning your own beliefs on sex”

WARNING!

This work contains mature content, including graphic sexual descriptions and scenes, and is provided for adults only. The Experiences series contains scenes of psychological and physical submission, discipline, and medical fetish.  The characters explore various fetishes, which evolve throughout the series.  ALL CHARACTERS IN THE BOOK ARE 21 YEARS OLD OR OLDER, and all activities are consensual.

About The Author

SimoneFace Small 140811An adventuress and traveler, Simone is a sensual being who loves to read stories that excite her.  She takes exception to authors who promote their works as ‘dirty’, ‘filthy’, or ‘smutty’:  She believes that sex is wonderful in all of its incarnations, and doesn’t shy away from graphic descriptions of realistic sexual experiences, no matter how messy.  Her writing is mainly in the ‘literary realism’ style – i.e., it is wild (even outrageous) … but could really happen to you!  She values openness in relationships, and demonstrates this through her characters.

Prior to becoming an author, Simone was a nurse.  One of her pet peeves is reading erotica that gets simple anatomy wrong!  She is continually bewildered by women who haven’t explored their own bodies.  Another pet peeve is the mostly hung-up Victorian society prevalent in the U.S. and U.K., and she tries to do her part to change that by introducing people to new sexual and sensual experiences through her erotic writing.  The activities in Simone’s books are quite realistic, as she has participated in most of these in ‘real life’, as surreal as it may seem.

Simone is currently completing the Experiences series, which will run an estimated 1,000,000 words!  That is why she refers to it as an ‘epic’ romance, although each volume is intended to stand on its own, with a ‘happy for now’ ending.  Experiences combines literary style and philosophical discussion by the characters with graphic portrayal of sex in all of its kinks and fetishes.  You may not like all of the things Simone’s characters do … but neither do they.  Their exploration of new experiences will hopefully motivate some readers to explore their own sexuality to a greater extent.

Simone loves to hear from her readers, so feel free to contact her.   In fact, she hopes you will feel ‘free’ sexually and spiritually, as well.  Please follow her on social media and her blog.  On her website, you may interact directly with the main characters in her books, including asking them questions in order to understand their perspectives in more depth.

You can sign up to her mailing list to learn about new releases, and take advantage of promotions.  All readers on the mailing list will be sent an excerpt from each of her next novels, prior to publication.

Guest Post Entangle Book Tour

I’m sharing a guest post today by Veronica Larsen, author of Entangle, a contemporary romance novel. Enjoy the guest post.

Any other name would be as sweet

Guest post by Veronica Larsen, author of Entangle

As a new indie author, I spend countless hours on the Internet researching every aspect of the publishing industry my mental bandwidth allows. Early on in the process, I was overwhelmed and nearly completely discouraged by the sheer mass of information I needed to consume and understand.

Indie authors wear many hats. There’s the creative side to the process and the practical/business aspect to it. There’s the creative challenge of telling a story to the best of your ability. And the responsibility of constructing and executing a marketing strategy for your novel’s release. Often operating just from a gut instinct as there is conflicting accounts on the internet. There’s no definitive “step by step guide” on successful self publishing. Each indie author has to carve their own way and pick through the bottomless pit of information that is the internet to find what works for them. Although I was intimidated, I was also empowered by the possibility of having full creative control over my work and my brand.

Romance isn’t the only genre I write in. It’s not even the original genre I began writing in. All of my life I’ve written fantasy. My first completed manuscript is a YA fantasy, which I originally intended to be my first published work (it’s not ready for the world just yet). Along with this manuscript, I have a handful of pending YA novels in the pipeline, ideas that are fleshed out in outlines and ready for my undivided attention. But right now, my attention is divided. My attention is on the romance novels I am preparing to publish in the coming months: Entangle in December and Entice in the first half of next year.

When I finished the first draft of Entangle, I knew I was going to publish under a pen name. Because categorizing author’s by the genre they write in is something that, I think, we all subconsciously do. YA fantasy and Romance (particularly Romance with an erotic streak) are starkly differing genres, each with their own defined audience. That isn’t to say there’s no overlap in readership (there is), but the genres are targeted to different age groups. This is where my decision to publish under a pen name came into play. Certainly, I wouldn’t want any impressionable young readers to accidentally come across my romance novels in search for my YA works. The content or my romance works is explicit and not meant for readers under 18. I made the decision early on to keep these works separate, to publish romance under a pen name. And thus, Veronica Larsen was born.

I know some authors have successfully crossed genre lines and write everything under one name. I think this is great when it works. But I also think there is something powerful about a consistent brand. For me, as a reader, being able to know what to expect is a relief, considering the mountains of books published every year.

When I want to read a twisty, fast paced thriller, I go straight to Ted Dekker. If I’m in the mood for historical fiction (which I often am) I like to reach for Phillipa Gregory or Virginia Woolf. And so on. It’s nice, for me, to know what to expect from my favorite authors.

Having a pen name does take a little getting used to. Getting to the point of publishing my first novel is a huge personal achievement. Seeing a name other than my own on the book I wrote is a bit…anti-climatic.

But then I remember this isn’t about my name, or even about me. What’s important is getting the story out to the world, because it begs to be known.

Don’t all stories beg to be known? I think so.

About The Book

Author: Veronica Larsen

Genre:  Romance (Adult, Contemporary)

Happily ever after? It doesn’t exist.

I wore the big white dress and rode off with Prince Charming. Then Charming changed his mind.

These days, I don’t put my heart in anyone’s hands because I don’t even know where I’ve left it.

So when a ruggedly handsome, blue-eyed man stirs my desires awake for the first time in years, I tell myself it’s a one-time thing.

And now? I’m hooked. Nothing could prepare me for Leo. He weaves simple, deliberate movements into pure, gilded pleasure. Like a sensual alchemist.

I’m so blinded by lust I barely notice the gaping hole opening underneath me, the one that’s sure to swallow me down. Because every time I’ve dared to get close to someone, they’ve cracked me wide open.

Why should this time be any different?

Book Excerpt

“We believe we’ve learned the identity of your parents,” said Aunt Priya gently.

Dainy had not been expecting this. She’d been preparing herself for any manner of issues, from marriage, to being asked to leave the inn, now that she was of age. But not this. She had been told long ago that she was abandoned as a babe, left on the doorstep of the inn. She had never wondered about it further. Why would her aunts bring it up now? And what did it matter, now that she was grown?

Her stomach knotted. Should she try to look for these parents? Did she even wish to meet them, after they had apparently deserted her? “Where are they, then?” she inquired, in spite of herself.

“Dead,” Pascale answered bluntly.

Dainy stared at him, shocked. All of her spinning emotions crashed to a screeching halt, piling upon one another, until she could no longer stand it. She wiped a tear from her eye. “Then why tell me at all?” she wanted to angrily shout, but the words only came out in a hoarse whisper. She swatted away another tear.

“Dainy.” Uncle Pascale frowned. “Do you recall what happened to the royal family of Jordinia?”

Dainy thought for a moment. She knew the northern nation had once been a great empire, until it was overthrown by the people’s New Republic, when she was very small. “Weren’t they all killed?”

“Almost all,” said Pascale carefully.

Dainy was growing frustrated. “But what does this have to do with my parents?”

“Your parents,” Paxi whispered, and Dainy was taken aback to see tears glittering in her eyes, “we believe, were the Emperor and Empress of Jordinia.”

Dainy’s breath caught. She could scarcely comprehend this. Her parents, an emperor and empress?

Then who did that make her?
